Gameplay section

I'm skeptical of the lengthy gameplay section as appropriate for Wikipedia. For one thing we should be writing WP:PROSE not bulleted lists. For another there is a question of WP:WEIGHT. There is nothing wrong with a section on gameplay, but it should be a couple paragraphs that summarizes for the reader who has never played the game and probably never will play the game. Thank you. This was done by an editor who appears to be relatively new, who might not understand that Wikipedia is a secondary source encyclopedia ie. we report what other secondary sources say on a topic. Rather, if most of an article is composed of primary source material (in this case, the rules) that is a problem. See WP:PRIMARY. It's ok to give some very brief summary of the rules (which are quite complex like most wargames), but the focus should be on the secondary sources such as reviews and so on.

Also, I added the map image back, but it might be a copyright violation on Commons, and needs to be changed to Fair Use, and re-uploaded to Enwiki, but I'm not sure it would pass a Fair Use rationale since it doesn't really do much other than decorate the article. Possibly if the text of the article discussed the map in more depth but that would also require sources, and not just repeating what the rules book says. -- GreenC 19:42, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Heya, thanks for checking and "fixing" my edits! I'm very, VERY new to wikipedia! When i got my account, I really only wanted to expand the page of the longest day, after seeing how tiny the page was.
