Citation needed? ...Really?[edit]

The origin of the song title is from the idiom "The pot calling the kettle black." This information was known even before the album was released... even before it was leaked onto the internet. Drug War rant?[edit]

Objection to 'Progressive Metal' edit[edit]

I've been told recently that it's against Wikipedia's policies to edit the genres. Understandable, with all that sabotage of nu metal and metalcore, but... seriously. Why are people objecting to Tool being called 'progressive metal'? Why is it ALWAYS changed back to 'progressive rock'? And why can't 'progressive metal' merely be added to the list of genres? Updating the above[edit]

The above comment I've noticed has been on here for a while, yet nobody's actually answered it. So I'm going to ask the question again. But in a different way.

Simply, I want consensus for "progressive metal" to be added to the list of genres. I don't think anyone would really object if I just asked everyone if I could add it, so... yeah. I'll wait for the answers. I'll be genuinely surprised if a flame war starts over this, because we're all agreed that Tool are a metal band, and that this song is metal. --LordNecronus (talk) 22:12, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The original genre listed for this song was Alternative Metal, then was changed to Progressive Rock without any given reason for the change, it was then changed to Progressive Metal accompanied by many reasons for doing so, and it was arbitrarily changed back to Progressive Rock, once again with no given reason. There are two users who have tried to ask on this page why it's being changed from Progressive Metal to Progressive Rock, yet the person doing so has failed time and again to state their reasons. Tool is listed as Progressive Metal and are widely recognized as such, not as Progressive Rock. If you look at the page for Progressive Rock, the only mention of tool is listed as being in the metal sub genre. So Gunmetal Angel, just because you decide to tack Progressive Rock on to the band's page doesn't mean that they magically become that genre. If you have a reputable source listing them as Progressive Rock, then that's fine. But so far you have shown none, and I take great issue with Wiki bullying, which is exactly what you are engaging in, and what drew my notice. So you either list sources backing up Tool's Progressive Rock label, or I will continue to revert your arbitrary changes ad infinitum. Livingston 02:10, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever, I was just following by what the original genre in which was stated for the article and inforcing it against anyone that was using original research. Having "progressive rock" as the genre on the side with "hard rock" wasn't my decision.
