Just Curious
[edit]I was just wondering if anyone knew what the song "Haben Sie Gehört das Deutsche Band?" translates too. Tried plugging it into a translator but didnt translate into any form of logical sense, haha. - Kb6110 20:17, 5 May 2007 (EST)
- As far as I can see, the title translates as "Have you heard the German band?", and there isn't really any german in the song lyrics, other than "mit a bang..." - "with a bang..." dbg92 09:05, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
More info please
[edit]Could someone in the know please add information on the actors (and when/how the roles have been handed over), plus when it went to London, the shutdown due to 9/11, etc? - Richardcavell 09:17, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- I think the London information has been nicely filed in. I added original Broadway cast (major characters), but it's a little hard to find exact dates for when each replacement actor took over, although some information is on IBDB. I will try to find information about 9/11, but, as I recall, all shows were dark for at least one or two performances, not only The Producers, so I'm not sure just what would fit here.JeanColumbia 12:12, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Jean you are right about all shows going dark on 9/11 so wouldn't be appropriate Mark E 16:11, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Tel Aviv
[edit]Whenever Hitler's name is said, they spit and say something about may his memory be abolished? Well how would this work? Would Franz do it when talking about Hitler? If not, how would he react to Max and Leo doing it? Would they do it in Springtime for Hitler? Would Roger say it as he's talking about the play, and Max etc? It'd distract terribly from the show. And if Hitler is morbidly obese, does that mean that Roger is too?
Casting info
[edit]A few thoughts about this article, which is much improved: IMO, the casting info is given too much space and is too listy. There could be a historical casting table showing the name of the character and who played it in the B'way and West End production, or (my preference), there could just be a character list, and then each production would list notable cast members in narrative form, with a reference pointing to more complete casting info outside the article. A third solution would be to make a separate article about casting, the way it is done for Wicked. I also think the plot summary is a little too long, whereas the information regarding critical reception and box office success of the major produtions (esp. NY) is too slight. The New York production deserves a couple of paragraphs. Under WP:LEAD, the intro should have brief information about the productions, and then the detailed information should be in its own section; so, if someone adds more info about the NY production, a couple sentences about it would stay in the intro, and the larger section could be moved down with the other producton info in a section called "Productions", with the various productions being subheadings. Best regards, -- Ssilvers 15:24, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- I added a "Production history" section. I haven't addressed how to show the multiple casts-I'm stymied here and on other articles on musicals which have long lists of replacements.
- But I did find some info about the box office success, although I still haven't found an article that states just when the show recouped. I'll look around for critical reception next week if no one else has done it, I'm pretty much off the computer for a while now.JeanColumbia 18:56, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Personally, I don't find the replacement cast info very compelling, unless the replacements are super-notable, or somehow saved the show, or there is a particularly notable story involved in their joining the cast. If there is a link to good info outside Wikipedia, and a reader is interested in replacement casting, they can click. -- Ssilvers 13:27, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Young Frankenstein
[edit]I propose moving this entire section to the article on Young Frankenstein, with perhaps a one sentence (if that) reference in this article (The Producers). The stage musical of YF is well on it's way, the article on YF needs to be enhanced, it's now somewhat out-of-place here, I think . JeanColumbia 16:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, there is already an article on the upcoming stage version (Young Frankenstein (musical)), so I now propose to either 1)delete this section in this article entirely, or 2) reduce it to one reference sentence. (Sorry, I should have been more thorough before.)JeanColumbia 18:27, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
I shortened and moved it up and added the bluelink. See what you think. -- Ssilvers 05:21, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Nice, thanks JeanColumbia 10:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Productions section
[edit]It's still a bit haphazard and needs more references. Can we get the Int'l section into chronological order? I deleted some POV/non-notable information. The redlinks should be de-linked, I think. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:25, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Amateur production
[edit]I've used the "rollback" feature but, to explain: I've deleted the "amateur" production placed in the "Other productions" section on April 21, 2008 by Special:Contributions/91.111.83.107 per the WP:WPMT article structure guidelines: "Amateur productions will be deleted without discussion." JeanColumbia (talk) 21:58, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
UK Tour
[edit]Could the UK Tour section be cleaned up a bit? I can see at least three different castings - does anyone have any information about when each was in the cast? dbg92 09:11, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

1967 not 1968.....
[edit]there's a whole (unreferenced) section referring to the 1968 original. It is, according to all other articles on here, a 1967 release - in the cinemas by 1967 (and by late 1966 was just an idea in development, so I would say it's a 1967 film in all essences - produced, released etc). I am therefore changing wholesale that section to what seems correct - 1967. Not sure if the current use of 1968 is a glaring error or down to something I'm missing......Rayman60 (talk) 19:17, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
