Discography
[edit]- I have created basic articles for the most major releases by the Warlocks, please review them and see what you think. --7PusaAJ (talk) 21:30, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
uh what about the fact that this was the original name for the Grateful Dead?
- Now added to the article. --Michig (talk) 12:44, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Confusion.
[edit]The Warlocks was indeed the original name for the Grateful Dead...it is featured in countless documentaries...does that have anything to do with this band's namesake? If that were included, it would discontinue any confusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twitterpated. (talk • contribs) 02:08, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Excuse me for not signing my last entry...I'll just continue, I suppose. The Warlocks was also the original name of The Velvet Underground. Like I said, wouldn't it be valuable to include this information? The Warlocks are, as the article says, "Neo-psychedelia", and the Dead were psychedelic rock. If this information were included, it would discontinue any confusion, as well as adding interesting facts to the article.Twitterpated. (talk) 02:14, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
It was also, as I have heard, the original name of the Velvet Underground. There was also a Texas bad of the name that caused the Grateful Dead to drop it. However this is the only notable band currently of that name. Wwwhatsup (talk) 03:01, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to add it thenn. =) Soon. Twitterpated. (talk) 18:30, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Both added. --Michig (talk) 12:44, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Sourcing
[edit]There are several external links to interviews but no-one seems to be making the effort to source the article. I'm going to follow their lead because this subject matter really does not interest me and, yes, I'm doing some drive-by edits. I've glanced through the interviews and feel sure that there is content within them that could be used to improve the article. However, statements lacking in proper citations have no place on Wikipedia and we really should not be expecting our readers to do our work for us, ie: sift through the external links. Nor do we exist as a promotional vehicle for the band. So, use it or lose it. - Sitush (talk) 08:54, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
- We shouldn't expect anyone to do our work for us. We're all here to build a better encyclopedia, are we not? --Michig (talk) 12:44, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Deleted content
[edit]The following content was removed by User:Sitush in a series of edits (see above). The removal of the video links is not a question of sourcing, but is summarized as "WP:ELNO (plugin, copyright, promo))" which would appear unjustified on all three counts. The links comply with EL Rich Media guidelines. The site is an official video outlet for the band. The videos provide multimedia examples of the band as it progressed through its lineup changes. History
[edit]At sixteen his family left the swamps and moved to Los Angeles where Bobby frequented the 'Mad Hatter' club. After meeting Beck he played bass on the former's 1994 album Stereopathetic Soulmanure. Upon visiting Anton Newcombe, of whose work he was a fan, he moonlighted in The Brian Jonestown Massacre, for whom he played guitar and bass;[1] also contributing 'fuzz guitar' on their 2001 album Bravery, Repetition and Noise. He also attended parties with Timothy Leary as a result of his time in Hollywood-based performance art/rock ensemble The Don Knotts Overdrive (DKO), which would later become the alternative rock band Headset. Throughout the 1990s, he formed bands such as Charles Brown Superstar (with Bennett Rogers), Magic Pacer (with Bob Mustachio), and played keyboards with The Don Knotts Overdrive.
The band's debut album "Rise & Fall" was released on Bomp records in 2000. A worldwide deal with Mute (in conjunction with City Rockers in the UK and with Birdman in America) led to the release of "Phoenix" in 2003. The single's extra tracks featured two songs from the album recorded on their British tour, "Inside Outside" and "Hurricane Heart Attack". The latter includes a guest appearance from ex-Spaceman 3 front man Sonic Boom.
'Surgery' was released by Mute in 2005.
