Sweetwater Station

[edit]

Actually, although situated in present-day Wyoming, at the time of the Pony Express (1860-1861), Sweetwater Station (seasons 1 and 2) was part of the Nebraska Territory. The Wyoming Territory was not organized until 1868. Rock Creek Station (season 3) was also part of the Nebraska Territory (but unlike Sweetwater Station, it is located in present-day Nebraska). What is said in the actual series, though? Does it say Wyoming or does it say Nebraska? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:58, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In the series, it's said Nebraska Territory. If you have the DVDs (or taped episodes), you can also check out the map in the title sequence. I don't think they put Rock Creek on the map till the third season, though. SummertimeRain (talk) 08:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do have the season one set, but its currently packed up. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 08:56, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So why did you change the location to Kansas? The Kansas Territory was south of the Nebraska Territory, and no matter what it says on the DVD cover (and certain web sites quoting the DVD cover), Sweetwater Station was not in Kansas. At the time of the Pony Express, it was in the Nebraska Territory, and it is now part of Wyoming. Also, as far as I can remember, Sweetwater being in the Nebraska Territory is clearly mentioned several times on the show. SummertimeRain (talk) 09:32, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A reliable source says the series says Kansas. Until I can check the DVD itself (not for a couple more weeks), we have to go with what the reliable sources say, unless an equally reliable one says other wise. It may change later. There are dozens upon dozens of articles on The Young Riders from 1989-1991. I've requested copies of six from my university library so far (didn't want to overwhelm them), and have a bunch more book marked for future requests. Silly papers and their desire to charge to get articles. One or more of those will likely clarify the location, as well as provide a ton of info on production and the selection of the cast. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 09:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have checked the DVD (which in my opinion should be the most reliable source of them all) and it says Nebraska, but of course, you don't have to take my word for it. I look forward to seeing the article expanded. You seem to put a lot of work into this. SummertimeRain (talk) 11:40, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
