discuss to merge

[edit]

I personally think this article were too short to be separated article. so i suggest to merge to Iblis. Ahendra (talk) 20:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Ahendra: I do not support merging; Because the topic of the article can be developed. There is other information in the Arabic sources. Thank you. حسن القيم (talk) 22:11, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, take ur time to develop this article, i will support it to be independent article if u really sure this article can be developed with wide coverages and proper references. Ahendra (talk) 22:22, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We already have each of them for their own articles. I also once felt for this. Most Wikipedians back then argued, we should make separate articles for each. Also, it doesnt seem there is much about them left to say. What exactly is the purpose of this article? We really do not need more lists for Islamic articles. We already have way too much, often with simialr content. I also do not see any reason to merge, since everything the article has to say, is already mentioned in another one.--VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 20:42, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It has been two years now, and still almost nothing found to elaborate on this matter further. I have been checking on Arabic sources (mostly tafsir though) as well. Most of the time, they are just mentioned when the "offspring of Iblis" and their vices are explained. I see no reason to merge it with the article Shaitan. In other encyclopedias, such as Brill, they are mentioned under the Devil article as well. I would recommand the shaitan article for merging instead of Iblis though, since the offspring of Iblis are described under the topics of devils and their influences in Islamic literature, while Iblis is mostly talked to as a proper character. The offspring of Iblis are rarely characters but rather personified vices. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 12:55, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Five Children of Iblis and Shaitan

[edit]

What exactly is the supposed difference between the articles shaitan and this one? Both deal with the offspring of Iblis (shayatin) and their functions. Shaitan is more extensive and deals with the concept of shayatin in general, whereas this one with the names of five of them. If there is no relevant difference between both articles, I would like to suggest a merge soon. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 17:05, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, the article name is misleading. The definite article 'the' indicates that there are five specific children of Iblis, while all shayatin are considered Iblis' offspring, some even consider all jinn to be Iblis' offspring. Even among those explicitdly named, there are oftne more than five. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 13:07, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
