Name of article
[edit]There are good reasons in French to write thiéboudiène, but this spelling (with or without accents) probably doesn't work so well for English speakers. "Thigh-ebb-oo-dee-en"? Not proposing a change in the article title at this time, but note that use of the Wolof spelling ceebu jën (with or without diacritic) seems pretty widespread. Interestingly, one does not see much use of a phonetic English spelling like "chebujen."--A12n (talk) 14:06, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]Tiep and Thieboudienne should be merged. "Tiep (or thieboudienne)" is how the Tiep article starts. --Manduco (talk) 09:04, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support merge — Reading both articles, it is quite evident that they are referring to the samething. In Wolof, tiep simply mean rice whilst chebu jen (or thieboudienne) is about the Senegalese dish itself. Both articles are actually talking about the same thing. Therefore, I will support merging Tiep to Thieboudienne (the actual dish). Also, there is practically little on thieboudienne, so tiep's content should be moved to that article. There is also a Tiep yappa (the same dish but with meat) and tiep ganaar (same dish but with chicken). It is quite obvious however that the tiep article is referring to thieboudienne. Therefore merge and redirect tiep and (cheb) to thieboudienne. Also, adding in the lead that tiep or cheb means rice in Wolof and dienne or jen mean fish would be helpful. The bou as in Thiebou simply mean with in Wolof. Hope that helps.Tamsier (talk) 13:40, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
