Removal of deletion proposal tag

[edit]

Just tried improving the article a bit by adding more citations and expanding the content. The article lacks any image as of now. Have removed the deletion proposal tag after expanding the article. Rasnaboy (talk) 05:42, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rasnaboy why is this notable? Please add this in the lead. Follow MOS:LEAD. If there is no notbility asserted this will be AfDed. Venkat TL (talk) 06:59, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rasnaboy are you done with the sourcing or need more time? There are several problems. (1) This is a flyover but the article does not mention it. (2) This wiki article opens with 2 names for it, while Hindu considers them different. (3) You have mentioned it ends at Luz corner, please share the source for this information. Royapettah high road ends at Sai baba temple on its southern end. (4) I suggest that it is better that you merge the relevant material to the respective neighborhood articles (Royapettah) etc and mention this road in the Transport section on that page. Readers are better served reading the neighborhood article instead of repeating the same information on 2 places. I still stand by my assessment that this flyover fails GNG and the sources added so far are WP:NOTNEWS. If you agree with my assessment and suggestion, then this article can be redirected to Royapettah with your consent. If you disagree then I will have to take this to AfD to get broader consensus. Please reply. Venkat TL (talk) 10:02, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding your flyover question, yes, we can mention it in the lead but I'm waiting for additional sources. As of now, the flyover has a mention in the body text. For the second question, Royapettah High Road is also known as "Thiru Vi Ka High Road", but the above "The Hindu" source uses it ambiguously (while it's using the name Royapettah High Road to indicate the up direction of the road, the same article is using Thiru Vi Ka High Road while mentioning the same road in the down direction, causing confusion). Other sources can clarify on this ([1], [2]). As for the northern and southern ends, the ends are marked per the available sources and as indicated in the maps. If the southern end were to extend till Sai Baba Temple per any source, then the road becomes even more notable due to the presence of the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Ramakrishna Mutt, and other structures. The flyover, of course, may fail GNG but not the road itself (the reason why we do not have a separate article for the flyover but only for the road). Finding sources normally takes time, sometimes spanning months or even years. I think the notability tag at the beginning of the article serves this by bringing this to the attention of more editors. However, if we're keen on improving this article, maybe we shall take this for broader consensus. If nothing works out, we shall finally merge this with the Royapettah article. Anything is fine by me. Thanks. Rasnaboy (talk) 14:49, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(1) Thanks. (2) Why are you discounting the fact that Hindu is correct and you may be wrong? What sources clarify who is correct? I have looked at your 2 links and failed to understand the relevance. Can you please add quotes, to help clarify it. (3) Sai baba temple is located where the Flyover ends. Luz corner is further down south of the Sai baba temple. (4) Not sure which road you are referring to when you say "The flyover, of course, may fail GNG but not the road itself", you have not presented sources for the road you claim passes GNG. No, I am not in favour of waiting for months while waiting for sources, as I believe this article contains several factual inaccuracies. Since you are the primary contributor, it is better you copy paste the relevant content to Royapettah and redirect this to Royapettah. Please proceed with the merge. This discussion works as consensus and there is no need for AfD. Venkat TL (talk) 15:23, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm least interested in discounting the facts. Found a handful of sources, but some of the newspaper sources are ambiguous, if not conflicting, over the naming and extent of the street (this explains the factual errors in the article). The links that I provided are only to show how far the renamed road actually extends. Per the sources, the northern end even includes General Patters Road further north: [3] [4] (this means the Road is now even longer). For now, let me expand the article further with the available sources. Then let's go for broader consensus at the AfD discussion. I welcome you to join hand in expanding the article per WP:HERE. The story goes like this. Thiru Vi Ka Salai is the official name for the entire stretch that formerly consisted of General Patters Road, Westcott Road, and Royapettah High Road. So the initial article was simply a part of the longer Thiru Vi Ka Salai. So have moved the article accordingly. This now increases the scope of the article. Since no source indicates the Sai Baba Temple that you said, I haven't included it for now. Got some history info, too. Will try to add. Rasnaboy (talk) 10:37, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please avoid adding information if it is ambiguous. You can post it on the talk page to review. Yes, Sai baba being the southern end of the Royapettah flyover is my Own WP:OR, not sure if there is a source describing it. In fact For Royapettah there was a dearth of sources discussing it so I proposed deletion. Now the name and scope of the article has been changed. It is premature for me to review the sourcing when you are working on it. So, I will wait for you to finish your efforts. Venkat TL (talk) 12:44, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rasnaboy is it ready for review? Venkat TL (talk) 08:46, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please. Thanks for checking. Rasnaboy (talk) 08:49, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
