Proposed merge

Personally I oppose the merge as the article looks fine the way it is and with some expansion and citations it could be a good article.--NeilEvans 18:44, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

I recommended the merge just to add a bit more balance. A lot of the information on Mumm-Ra's page appears to be duplicated in the character listing on this page. The other possibility is that we move information for all the main characters to seperate pages and have brief descriptions which link to them as is done with some other series (Stargate SG1 for example). It just seems a little odd that only one character has an individual page... doubley so when you consider it's not even the lead character. If you really think it's fine as is, then just leave it. I vote against merging but some of the more detailed information from this page should probably be moved there, such as the list of Mumm-Ra's aliases. I'd suggest trimming the following lines from this page:

Among them are:

• Diamondfly, a tiny sprite-like creature luring Lion-O into a trap (in the episode "Queen of Eight Legs").

• Gregory Gregion, a jovial troll who tricks Lion-O into attacking Tigra and breaking the Sword of Omens (in the episode "All That Glitters").

• Silky, a flower-like creature with a human face, who enthralls Tygra with addictive fruit (in "The Garden of Delights").

• The Netherwitch, a sorceress sending Lion-O into the Astral World (in "The Astral Prison").

• Pumm-Ra, a "Puma Thunderian" of a more bestial appearance than Pumyra. He used this disguise to stage Cheetara's "rescue" and trick his way into Cats' Lair (in the episode "Pumm-Ra").

He even once took the form of King Arthur to acquire the legendary magic sword Excalibur, using it against the Sword of Omens.

In several episodes, Mumm-Ra takes additional forms beyond "Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living". One is called "Mumm-Ra the All-Powerful": in this manifestation, Mumm-Ra absorbs the entire power of the Ancient Spirits of Evil to become grander in size and strength, and the design pattern on his loin cloth changes, as does his voice (this form was only presented in the series twice). In another incarnation, calling himself "Mumm-Ra the Dream Master," he is able to enter dreams to subliminally influence the ThunderCats in their sleep as a form of mind control.

Mumm-Ra displays a god-like power in reforming the planet Thundera in order to retrieve the Sword of Plundarr (originally responsible for the planet's destruction). Once he acquires this sword, he becomes more than a match for the Sword of Omens.

Movie???

I had read somewhere that there were talks of a storyline for a live action movie based on the Thundercats. Has anyone heard this rumor, and if so, if it is true, is the information important to this article? I will continue to do some more research on this, but I seem to remember Jamie Pressley stating something about her auditioning for the role of Cheetara in a live action movie based on the popular Thundercats TV show. Psychological consultant

After watching an episode I noticed that in the credits there is a psychological consultant. Can anyone tell me what their actual job was on the series? Thank you.84.68.94.53 13:45, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that as well, recently when I was watching my DvDs of ThunderCats again. If you watch the extras, I believe that the production company made them have this Psychological consultant on was so that each & every episode would have sometime of moral to it.

Unfortunately I don't have a citation (although I recall reading a book on this years ago) or else I would Be Bold, but the Psychological Consultant went far beyond "instilling morals". ThunderCats was psychologically engineered to be appealing and "make sense" to a child's mentality; think of Piaget's argument that children are not merely mini-sized adults. Watching this show as an adult at the very least lacks the allure and at worst just seems bizarre/non-sense; but it was designed to "make perfect sense" to children -- at least in the time-period in which it was produced. If anyone else can find the appropriate citation for this, I think this would be a significant component of the article. 71.162.255.53 19:06, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

ThunderCats game?

T-shirts

Is anyone aware of any reliable cites dealing with the popularity of the ThunderCat logo on T-shirts throughout the 90s? I believe these were unlicensed, but they seemed to be really popular for quite a while. --Boradis 22:21, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I agree that this should be mentioned if a reliable source can be found. It's not just the 90's, they are still popular now. History of Thundra

Live-Action Ad Targeting Parents and Channel Specific Voiceovers

I remember once seeing a live-action ad for Thundercats that featured a woman discussing how the show stressed values and was a good show to let children watch. YouTube has too many videos to skim through, but a search with all the right keywords turned up nothing. (There was a PSA about alcohol, but that wasn't it.) Does anyone have any more information about this (such as who the woman was possibly video), and might a mention of it in the article be warranted?

Also, I once remember seeing an ad for Thundercats that was channel specific (In my case, "Channel 55, Ho!" was said by Larry Kenney) While the ad showed just the opening and clips, the voiceover was (I think) only played over a still of the Thundercats logo. Truth, justice, honor, and loyalty -- four tenets of the Code of Thundera, appear to coincide with "honesty", "rectitude", honor, and loyalty, four of seven tenets of Bushido. Is it noteworthy enough to add to the article? Siyavash (talk) 13:09, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Bungled vandalism repair

I just happened to notice that someone had entered the phrase (Earl Hammond)behind every mention of Mumm-Ra's name in his section...even to the point of putting the phrase (not Earl Hammond) behind Ma-Mutt's name. I removed the unecessary phrases but I don't seem to be able to get the text reformatted correctly. Juno reference?

Just to be clear, in the tv show, the Thundercats yelled "Thundercats, ho!" not "Thundercats are go!", correct? So the reference in Juno is actually a misquote? - 76.67.97.38 (talk) 23:23, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
