Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

[edit]Lede
[edit]- professional ice hockey right wing - professional ice hockey player who is positioned at right wing... Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:58, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Changed to "right winger", as "winger" is the name for the player. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Wilson was named to the Capitals' roster - named in, surely. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:58, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I think "named to" is proper, but as I couldn't find it in the source, I changed to "made the roster". — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- FWIW, googling "named to the roster" returns 365,000 results while "named in the roster" returns 127,000. -- Pemilligan (talk) 14:59, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- that doesn't make it grammatically correct. A Roster is a "list of people's names and/or schedules". You aren't named to a list, you are named in a list. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:01, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- The lede seems to comment a lot on him getting put on the spotlight for not receiving finds/bans, but surely this isn't his fault? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:58, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Changed to emphasize that most of the criticism is towards his "headhunting" (i.e. targeting other skaters' heads and necks, which is a very big no-no for obvious reasons). — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
General
[edit]- in Toronto, Ontario - should probably comment this is in Canada. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think that's necessary, as Toronto is the largest city in Canada and this would probably fall under common knowledge, but added anyway. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- What's a rep team? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Specified that these are different competition levels of minor hockey, as is stated in the minor ice hockey article. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Is there a suitable link for "draft" it means an open window where I come from Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Added. Also rephrased OHL draft to Priority Selection (the specific term used by that league) and added a WL to the relevant article. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Draft (sports) or, more specifically, NHL Entry Draft. -- Pemilligan (talk) 14:51, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Is there a suitable link for "fights"? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Fighting in ice hockey is linked earlier, during the section on his junior career. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps Fighting in ice hockey. -- Pemilligan (talk) 14:53, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- fined $2,403.67 - do we need to be so specific ? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Specified that it's the max allowed under the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Is there a reason why the subsections of career are set the way they are? Could we not come up with a title for them as well? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- They're based on when he received various contract extensions (June 30, 2016, and July 27, 2018, respectively). — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Some of the pieces about his international career would suit the lede. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Added. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Where is the source for the career stats? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Added. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- I think the article in general should make a bigger deal that he has won the Stanley Cup. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:07, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I have done my best. However, because hockey is more of a team sport than, say, baseball, an individual player winning the Cup is only really a big deal if the player contributed a clutch goal, or if they were a goaltender with a shutout performance. It's not the same as, say, someone's grand slam during the WS. Additionally, because the Cup win came during Wilson's "dirty year", most of the discourse around his championship had to do with some of that aforementioned headhunting, so it's difficult to find sources that talk about the win in a positive or even neutral fashion. — GhostRiver 16:22, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hmm, I think I disagree. If someone was in the FIFA World Cup winning squad, even if they didn't play, that would still be mentioned in the lede. If someone played five games during a UEFA Champions League season, but only played in the group stage, that would still be a big deal. This player would have a Stanley Cup medal of some description. [edit]- I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:32, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

- I still think we could mention his Stanley Cup medal a bit more, but otherwise happy to pass. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 13:03, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
