Untitled[edit]

Greetings, I just wanted to state I had originally added the MFI content after the "Trekdom & the Internet" section because of the signifcance of MFI's origin to the Internet. It seemed a more logical place there chronologically speaking. <shrug> The original page prior to my addition did not seem to have much of an organizational theme other than chronology [although to my mind it still needed a bit of tweaking in places...]. I dunno...I really like the work that has been done here. Is there anything to be done to improve the flow? Whatever the consensus wants is fine, I just wanted to brainstorm a bit...
Thanks. Maquis Always!

Questions: Was ALL of the IFT completely internet based or ONLY parts of IFT [namely MTF and ISFA}? If the latter is true, then the "predating MFI" blurb is misleading and incorrect. Unless IFT was completely internet based that is...
Thanks. (asking because I do not know about IFT)

Answer for Ten-of-Nine. First, as I wanted to seperate the clubs, associations and orgs grom the politics and internet sections, this is why I moved it.

The as for the IFT - I believe you mean IFC. This did pre-date the formation of the MFI by or year or two and was created by the USS Matrix & Fleet Captain Roger Stearns, which is considered the first internet chapter in STARFLEET. They wanted something different in case STARFLEET folded and my chapter agreed. I know the IFC (which was purely internet based) was in existance since at least 1993.

BTW, I did get your e-mail, and tell your wife from one Freedie to another Hello. :-)

Doahh! Spilled the alphabet soup again... Thanks for the info.
I wasn't around at the beginning of MFI, so I must rely on info Gary Davis and Rob Johnson supplied. I'll have to confer with them to determine if our claim should be modified to something like "Claiming status as the first completely Internet-based Star Trek fan organization in continuous operation and ..." or something like that.

Ten-of-Nine:

Think it would be a good idea to add the words in continuois operations to that paragraph. Mind doing the honors?

Organization Logos[edit]

Well... since the WP "purge of most of the fan club pages [including MFI], I noticed that the MFI logo was now also tagged for deletion as an orphan. So I thought "why not include it here". If we can obtain other fair use club logos and add them in a similar fashion, this page will gain a bit of visual flair. Give it a try! --Steve 22:13, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IFT Entry[edit]

Since there is now an IFT entery at International Federation of Trekkers and it copies what is saids in the Trekdom artilcle, I would suggest that the person who expanded it please pare it down before someone changes it. I know th eindividual and I respectfully request this. --AdmShiloh - Hawk 19:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IFT Entry[edit]

I have adjusted the IFT entry after someone else edited it. In the next few days, I'll submit a better little blurb about IFT for this article. Stonecoldq 13:18 EST, 21 February 2007

I am the one who did that, DR. I have been keeping an eye on the entire entry due to some vandalism. I have been overseeing it since it's inception. Capt'n Black Hawk --AdmShiloh - Hawk 05:26, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm working on a major rewrite of the IFT section (and IFT's entry in Wikipedia) at this time. I will be interviewing IFT's presdient for that update hopefully next week to reach that goal. Please be patient with me.

Starfleet Command of Grayslake, Illinois[edit]

In the mid- to late-1980's, there was a group called Starfleet Command (or possibly just Starfleet), based in Grayslake, Illinois. I don't recall from where I had bought some of their manuals and anthologies of "missions" (told in story form), possibly a convention or via the mail. RahadyanS 12:00, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Organization notability[edit]

Can anyone cite a reliable, published secondary source that establishes any one of these organizations' notability? What, if any, are the criteria for inclusion among the "few brief" examples of fan clubs? The club listings have sat without any sources whatsoever since September; please add sources within the next week otherwise they should/will be deleted for non-attribution. --EEMeltonIV 12:13, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This should probably be AfDd. I get the distinct feeling none of these groups are notable. Also, Wikipedia:Attribution is no longer policy, so if you AfD it cite non-verifiability. Matthew 17:10, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
