Copyright
[edit]The Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/trikone has been created by Trikone organization to facilitate some of the needs of the group. And this cannot be a Copyright violation issue. Uday Chandra Karrothi (talk) 21:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Uday Chandra Karrothi
- An encyclopedia does not exist to promote an organization. It should simply provide objective information. Therefore, the text of the article must be mostly original. Dieresis (talk) 13:33, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Also, even if the text was not copyrighted, it would need to be explicitly licensed in a manner compatible with the GFDL. Most sites will not specify such licenses, so the only solution is to produce original text. Dieresis (talk) 13:33, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Citations
[edit]Citations made of the Trikone web site must conform to the standards specified in WP:SELFPUB. I believe the citation deleted last night fit the requirements, so I restored it, while adding others. Dieresis (talk) 13:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Can someone please add the link for DesiQ conference website http://desiq.org/ , I don't know where to put it. Thanks. seyd (talk) 21:04, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

History
[edit]Who are Ashok and Arvind? Facts stated in the article should be relevant and cited. "Ashok" and "Arvind" are just two common names unless further information is provided. Dieresis (talk) 00:36, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- I added a reference and corrected the facts according to the reference. Dieresis (talk) 14:51, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
pronunciation
[edit]The pronunciation was gibberish and unsourced, so I deleted it. Whoever added it, if you're watching, please let me know what you were trying to convey. kwami (talk) 00:22, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- The transcription of the name of the organization was not "gibberish." Nor did you provide any evidence to support your claim that it was "gibberish." IPA and Unicode are international standards. All of the characters used in the transcription are in the Unicode IPA set, and the transcription is adapted from the dictionary entry cited in the article. It's your own personal issue if you have not bothered to configure your operating system to correctly render Unicode IPA characters, or are incapable of reading IPA. It is not your prerogative to remove information simply because you personally don't find it interesting. Dieresis (talk) 05:10, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- If it was not gibberish, then it was not English, and it is up to you to state which language it is. (I supposed it could be Tamil.) Since the org. is from SF, and this is WP-en, the normal assumption (backed by the MOS) is that the pronunciation would be in English unless stated otherwise. My assumption (perhaps ill founded) is that the transcription was supposed to be English, in which case we're back to gibberish.
- I can't find anything on the Tricone website that is supposed to be the ref. to support any pronunciation. kwami (talk) 06:01, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- Obviously it wasn't English. If you can make that statement, then you clearly know nothing about the actual subject of the article. The name of the organization is a word in many Indian languages and the relevant dictionary entry is cited in the section entitled "About the Name." Stop vandalizing the article. Dieresis (talk) 06:49, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Obviously, if you're accusing me of being a vandal for cleaning up the article, then you're acting as a troll, and I'll continue to revert you until you supply some content re. the pronunciation. Your point is only valid if I assume that the person who entered the pronunciation knew what they were doing, which I can't assume. Assuming it was meant to be a South Asian pronunciation, we need to identify the language. "South Asian" isn't a language. [t̪rɪkoːɳ] can't be Marathi, for example, nor Gujarati, Bengali, or Malayalam, as claimed in the 'name' section, nor would it be likely to be considered Urdu. kwami (talk) 07:15, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Since you're not in a cooperative mood, what say I decide for myself, and make it Hindi? (Actually, it wasn't good Hindi either, but I couldn't fix it up without knowing which language it was supposed to be.) kwami (talk) 07:16, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Removing relevant, cited information from an article is vandalism, and nothing else. If you want clarification about a point in an article, then ask on the discussion page or contact the author. The transcription is based on Hindi-Urdu_phonology. If you think you can improve on it, then demonstrate how and why. Just saying "it wasn't good Hindi" is, of course, completely meaningless. Dieresis (talk) 08:09, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Um, did you bother to read any of that? It wasn't cited. It was not based on Hindi-Urdu phonology, at least not very closely. It violated the MOS. And I did ask on the discussion page. Also, /ɳ/ is only found in Sanskrit borrowings and usually identified as Hindi rather than Urdu, but maybe no-one will quibble over that. kwami (talk) 09:42, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
