Why is only part of Chautauqua County colored in light green? I hear the area referred to as part of the Southern Tier often enough (the Souther Tier Expressway started there for many years), but why is the county carved up like that? D. J. Cartwright (talk) 02:26, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is explained in the Southern Tier page. The northern and western portions (Fredonia, Wesport) identify more with the Niagara Frontier or with Erie, PA.--Bardobro (talk) 12:54, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sports team loyalties--what about Pittsburgh?

[edit]

I dispute the assertion that "Northern Tier areas almost universally root for teams from Philadelphia." I grew up on the border in the eastern portion of the Twin Tiers, and there were plenty of Pittsburgh fans around, especially during good years for the Steelers. I can only imagine there were even more to the west.--Bardobro (talk) 13:02, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
