Coach list

[edit]

I agree. Don't see any reason not to merge the coach list into the basketball page. Westsider 01:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UCLA no longer a "powerhouse"

[edit]

I deleted the phrase "UCLA is no longer a dominating powerhouse, but they still find ways to sneak into the top 10." Besides the fact that that I don't believe that is true, it is very subjective, and some may view it as unnecessarily inflamatory. Furthermore, it does not contribute anything substantive to the page. Given that the UCLA men's basketball team has reached the NCAA final four three years in a row, there is a very valid argument to be made that they are a "dominating powerhouse". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.176.208.227 (talk) 23:54, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Win/Loss numbers

[edit]

The number of losses in the W-L table adds up to 690, not 714, so if somebody knows a source to get the official numbers, we can correct the table. Westsider 07:32, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it's due to the fact that we don't have the numbers for before 1927-8... Westsider 23:58, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added the pre 1928 numbers from the media guide. The link is here [1]. Page 127 has the years in question. Group29 19:27, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NCAA Records

[edit]

North Carolina now holds the NCAA record for Final Four appearances (18), not UCLA (17). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesbarlow3 (talkcontribs) 05:23, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It says UCLA has 26 Final Four victories, but only 13 Title Game appearances... that doesn't make sense. Can somebody clarify? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.232.77.207 (talk) 08:08, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means they've won 11 times in the Championship Game, 13 times in the National Semifinal, and twice in the third-place game, which no longer exists. 71.119.249.177 (talk) 20:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Sam Gilbert?

Yeah, seriously. UCLA got away with tons of cheating, and still had the clout to get the NCAA to go after schools like Long Beach State for playing too many black starters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.42.71.145 (talk) 20:58, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vacated wins

[edit]

There is a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_College_Basketball#Convention_for_vacated_wins on how to present UCLAs vacated wins.—Bagumba (talk) 08:03, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1947 PCC Championship

[edit]

I have removed claims that UCLA won the conference championship in 1947. Although UCLA won the South division, they lost two straight games to Oregon State in the ensuing playoff. Only Oregon State has a claim to that championship. RabbitSC (talk) 20:33, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I now see that similar claims are made for 1949, 1951, and 1955. UCLA lost in conference playoff each of those three years and cannot claim a conference championship. These will be removed. RabbitSC (talk) 21:24, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Division champion

[edit]

Just change the 1947, 1949, 1951, and 1955 "champions" to championship southern division champions. Problem solved.

Milestone wins

[edit]

This might be an informative addition to this article. Wins such as the 100th, 200th, 500th, 1000th, etc.

NBA players list

[edit]

The section UCLA Bruins men's basketball#UCLA Players in the NBA was added recently. It seems WP:UNDUE to recreate the ~100-player list already at standalone page List of UCLA Bruins in the NBA. The list was already linked at UCLA Bruins men's basketball#Notable players.—Bagumba (talk) 19:04, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
