Investigations

[edit]

I removed this passage, added by an anonymous editor:

However, in late 2006 he lost the title of James R. Hodge Eminent Scholar in Finance as he was investigated by the Dean of the Kelley School of Business. He is now just an Associate Finance Professor.

Is there any source corroborating this? (On the Kelley web page he still holds the title.) -- Marcika 19:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can only offer a first-person view as a former undergraduate student of Utpal - no online source unfortunately. He did in fact lose the chair, & was removed from some of his teaching duties due to an incident with a student. He has a reputation as a great teacher & scholar, but also as a bit of a misogynist & a narcissist. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he had authored this article himself. He has been known to forward feature articles in which he is quoted to students he hasn't taught in years. - Anon.

He didn't write the article - I wrote it a couple of years ago when I studied at IU. (I was never one of his students.) -- Marcika (talk) 10:52, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The entry is a long, self-congratulatory piece by an academic of modest attainment--18 years after his Ph.D., he still remains an Associate Professor. - Anon.
