HRW

[edit]

Reuters quotes HRW's quoting of an independent group.

Authorities continued their campaign of arbitrary detention and torture of Muslims who practice their faith outside state controls. In April, the Initiative Group of Independent Human Rights Defenders estimated there were 12,000 persons currently imprisoned on vague and overly broad charges related to “religious extremism,” with over 200 convicted this year alone.

And the point your are trying to make? Any bearing on the news at hand - elections being fixed, ballots being falsified, numbers being hitched up or struck down under the watchful eyes of the international observers?

"UZBEKISTAN or UZBEK" - not "UZBEKISTANI"

[edit]

Please, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonym#-i - if uzbeks' own demonym choice is anything to go by then please, somebody - amend the article title.

It says Uzbekistani (also "Uzbek"), which might be acceptable, as many people use Uzbek by ignorance. CIA World Factbook recommends Uzbekistani [1]. Materialscientist (talk) 02:24, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why not use the same logic as that, which is applied to "United States presidential election" where only the name of the country is referenced - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election, in parting with the CIA World Factbook recommendation of using "American" as the demonym for this case? This would still lead to the need to change the article title to "Uzbekistan presidential election" as opposed to the current misshapen title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.27.240.75 (talk) 16:02, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The naming convention for election articles (WP:NG-GAL#Elections and referendums) states that it must be Demonym + election type + year. I would be happy with changing this (and the others) to "Uzbek presidential election, XXXX". Number 57 16:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

"The success was of President Islam Karimov was expected because of constant upward economy, peace and security Uzbekistan enjoys under the rule of Karimov" This line was probably written by Karimov's inner circles. It needs serious neutrality adjustment.
