Improving the article
[edit]Extensive Wikification is needed. Do the Significant events, Homeport assignments, and Aircraft assignments sections.
Also update everything since 1988 or so, using information from the VP-16 website. They have a new aircraft, and they have some additional history. Lou Sander (talk) 16:09, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Recent trimming of See also
[edit]@GraemeLeggett: I agree that deleting Naval Aviation is OK, but the other two, IMHO, are needed for non-experts who might consult the article. The one on Patrol Aircraft (don't remember the exact name) is especially key. The one on Squadrons is less so, but is helpful if one doesn't know what an aircraft squadron consists of (which, IMHO, is most people). Lou Sander (talk) 14:31, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- To my mind "maritime patrol aircraft" and "squadron" are probably understood in general terms by a wide range of readers, but no reason not to include the links. It is probably better that the terms are included further up in the article, so I've edited the lede paragraph to include the links in a natural form. GraemeLeggett (talk) 15:02, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Nice solution! Lou Sander (talk) 17:44, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
History
[edit]Some of the items here came from DANAS, where they are more or less styled as bullet points of history. Some came (I think) from the history on the squadron's website, where they were styled as narrative (BTW they seem to be unreferenced). Wanting to create uniformity, I made them all into bullet points. They could, of course, be rewritten all into narrative form, or all into bullet point form.
Some may disagree, but I don't think it's necessary to cite the source for each point. This is uncontroversial material, and probably it's OK just to cite both sources jointly for the whole section. Lou Sander (talk) 18:36, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
