I'm having a difficult time finding any references to the M76, just several sources that say this weapon IS the Rk 62, but the M76 is a commercial SAKO-Valmet designation. If I can't find anything stating that this is somekind of variant of evolutionary design, the article willbe merged with the Rk 62. Unless someone can list the difference between the two types. The difference is that the M76 is stamped, with a few milled samples, while the RK62 is all milled. Also, RK62 is only available in 7.62x39, while the M76 came in 308 and 223 as well. The M76 also had wood, tube, and folding stock variants. The Rk62 didn't, IIRC. Rynky (talk) 22:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks, but apart from these optional features, designed for the civlian market, this is still an Rk 62 is it not? The article itself looks like it was created by an enthusiastic collector describing his/her rifle. Koalorka (talk) 14:49, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At the base, yes, this is still the same old Rk62, with newer features. I think it deserves it's own page however, since it was designed for the civilian market completely (the use in Indonesia was out of their own accord, the rifle wasn't built with them in mind), while the Rk62 was made for the FDF. I'd say leave them separate, but if the M76 article is too anecdotal and such, then change it. Rynky (talk) 17:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Valmet M76 was manufacturers commercial name for the rifle, both full- and semiautomatic models. FDF used rifle as 762 RK 62 76, according FDF:s "Rynnäkkökiväärin käsikirja" http://www.puolustusvoimat.fi/wcm/6b0c4800411e751fa6b6efe364705c96/rynnakkokivaarinkasikirja.pdf?MOD=AJPERES --91.153.20.206 (talk) 00:29, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are different guns, and both deserve their own article like galil and AK, althought the other one is a variant. Teppoterhakkatuhannenilontuoja (talk) 13:24, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictory statements

[edit]

The article establishes that the M76 has a 5.56 variant. It then later goes on to say that the Galil uses the 5.56 caliber as well, and then implies that it's somehow better because of that. Also, the 5.56 isn't obsolete at all. Rynky (talk) 23:20, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
