Abandoned villages

[edit]

I've been intrigued by the abandoned houses on the coast. I was told by my grandfather that the exodus was on account of the lure of the big city. Is that the case, or are other factors involved? It would be interesting to know how many, or what percent of coastal houses are abandoned.

What happens to the abandoned houses? They can't be sold? They are maintained, but not lived in?

Also, the photo in this article has two cars in it. Presumably people wouldn't abandon cars -- when they could be easily enough be sold. So is this a partially abandoned village?

"Finnmark" (and the articles about specific municipalities and villages), is perpaps where information should be located (about one village with cirka 0 residents).--I can not think of any village on the peninsula or even in Finnmark, where none of the houses are maintained.--Villages with cirka 0 "year-round residents": I can think of cirka one village on the Varanger Peninsula. 89.8.189.253 (talk) 05:43, 23 May 2022 (UTC) 89.8.189.253 (talk) 05:44, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
