I imagine that the science fiction reference comes from HG Wells and possibly others, who wrote science fiction during the Victorian era. The Time Machine was published in 1895, so the machine would have been steam driven to some extent. Stamford spiney 13:03, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
