In the replication, maybe include the replication process; enter host cell, release viral genome into hosts cell, use host cell to make viral DNA, translate viral mRNA into viral protein, make copies of viral genome, assemble of viral particles, maturation and release of viral particles, sometimes lysing of host cell.Zabb17 (talk) 17:47, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

I think your introduction is very well written. It has a good flow of the different mechanisms of viral pathogenesis. Some suggestions for this section would just be to talk more about viral pathogenesis and viral diseases. I like that you have a good table of contents of the topics that will be covered. The mechanism of infection is also good, but you could give more detail about the three requirements for successful infection. The section where you talk about replication, dissemination in nerves, and shedding could also use more detail. You can talk about what each process is and what is does. The discussion for incubation period and evolution are good. They give enough information that allows the audience to understand the concept. Overall I think you did a good job. Hello, my name is Isabelle and I am currently a final year undergraduate in Biochemistry at Imperial College London. As part of my Science Communications course, I have been tasked to produce a more in depth article into this topic of interest, Viral Pathogenesis. I will be amending and adding on to the texts that were written by the previous author. This is a highly relevant area in the fundamentals to virology, so I hope that by producing a generalised introduction of the topic, readers will then be able to further their reading into scientific literature with sufficient prior knowledge and understanding.
