The state of this article[edit]

The entire content of this page beyond the lead and list of genres resulted as a merge from the page Voice instrumental music which essentially consisted of original research since such a category does not exist to the best of my knowledge. The article attempted to describe the use of voice as an instrument. This is paradoxical since the voice by its very nature is an instrument. Much of the material consisted of examples of vocal music without lyrics and many of the more salient examples have been retained in the present article, although as a survey article, perhaps even more should be deleted.

The article as it stands is still without any content as to the history and evolution of vocal music. Granted, it's an extremely broad topic. Any help would be appreciated. MarkBuckles 05:50, 1 August 2006 (UTC) It should be renamed vocalise! Sparafucil 06:33, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tuva n throat singing?[edit]

In section 1.1, on the 4th point, it states "Tuva n throat singing often features wordless and improvised song." Is that supposed to say "Tuva and throat singing"? Just noticed this and I'm not really sure about it. :P --MasterOfTheXP (talk) 07:34, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A genre??[edit]

I don't how see it can possibly be claimed that this, as it is explained right now in the article, is a "genre". Almost all actual genres of music encompass at least some form of vocal music. The only source listed for the idea that this is a genre comes from AllMusic, but that website defines the "vocal" genre as being exactly the same thing as what Wikipedia currently calls Traditional pop music. It doesn't support the definition used in this article. I'm going to take it out as a source that actually says something radically different from the bulk of the sentence it supposedly "proves".
