Forgive me if this is not the proper method for this. I am writing a paper on CRC and noticed that in this article where Wesley Peterson is said to be the inventor of CRC, the reference document [1] (which Peterson wrote) attributes E. Prange as introducing cyclic codes, to which Peterson references a 1957 paper written by Prange. Would this not mean that Prange was the inventor of CRC? Thank you.
