Untitled[edit]

This article pretty much misses the point. Nutting's major contribution will always be as a scholar of American material culture of the past. The hand coloured prints, while they do relate to this were really the means by which he made the money to pursue his real interest-American furniture through the Federal period. (He had nothing but disdain for all that followed, referring to these as' the degenerate styles').He and Israel Sack were probably the 2 pre-eminent American furniture scholars of the first half of the 20th century. His furniture commands top prices at auction today, and his Furniture Treasury and Furniture of the Pilgrim Century are BIBLES! In their time the prints were sold in five and dimes.Toyokuni3 (talk) 06:41, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
