Genre wars[edit]

They are not gothic rock. This album is post-hardcore & metalcore, but should the genre acoustic rock be added? Because I think that's what "The Mortician's Daughter" and "Knives and Pens" (acoustic version) are.

Reception and first week sales[edit]

First of all, going in reverse order here, this line: "The album sold nearly 100,000 copies in its first week [...]" Anyone who knows the state of the music industry knows it's impossible to do 100,000 and only hit #36. Even when the music industry was peaking around 2001, Slayer's God Hates Us All landed in the late 30's (iirc) with about 40,000 first week sales. #36 on the US Billboard charts these days is closer to 14,000 first week. For comparison, Cage the Elephant hit #2 this year with 39,000 first week sales, Lamb of God hit #2 with 68,000 in 2009, and Mastodon hit #11 with 41,000 in 2009.

Every reliable source says the album sold 11,000 first week, not 100,000. This is believable as 11,000 is closer to what position #36 is these days. Multiple sources:

Furthermore, in sake of objectivity (as I have no stock in nor cares about this band), I'm reverting the page from saying "the album received a wide range of reviews, shifting from negative to positive" back to "despite receiving mixed to negative reviews", because most reviews of this album lean towards the negative. Common criticisms (like, universal ones) being the mentioned monotonous voice, the supposedly below average metalcore instruments, and relying on a look to sell records. I don't know because I've never listened, but I do know that the only positive reviews seem to come from fans on sites like Amazon. We all know that's definitely not reliable.

As the only listed positive review is from someone called "DarkZX" and is from a site called "Pokemon Dark Legion", I would imagine that's not representative of the entire music community's opinions and definitely does not represent any sort of critical consensus. See also WP:Reliable. I have removed it as such and will be monitoring this page for further updates. May need a WP:Admin to keep a watchful eye.

Upon further review, it seems that the edit which listed DarkZX as a credible reviewer came from 68.4.56.44, who I would imagine is DarkZX him/herself. I'm going to assume that there was no negative intent and he or she simply did not/does not understand the reliable sources policy. It seems like a simple mistake, to me, but I will still be keeping watch.

Alive And Burning[edit]

'Alive And Burning' was nothing more than a working title. No copies had been printed with the use of it. So, there's no need in putting it on top of the page right next to the official one. I moved it into the section where all song titles' changes are mentioned, keeping all the provided sources.
