This name is more often than not German-Jewish[edit]

The name is German, but most commonly utilized as a German-Jewish (Yiddish) surname. Should this be noted in the article?

German meaning[edit]

It's correct that "weiß" means either "white" or "knows" in German, but this is certainly not the origin of the name. In fact, the German article says it comes from "Waise" (orphan). 88.75.60.85 (talk) 14:50, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
