Title

So, two things. First: Shouldn't this article be called "Whaling in the United States?" We are discussing the United States of America here, not the contents of North and South America. Second, there is nothing in this article discussing the legality / illegality of whaling, or the influence of NGOs like Greenpeace on US Whaling policy... Just my two cents. --Fireballsedai (talk) 16:39, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree on the title changing. It does not seem accurate. Pikolas (talk) 10:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Title changed from Whaling in America to Whaling in the United States. HaŋaRoa (talk) 18:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Black and Indigenous Whalers

[edit]

Hi

I have noticed that this page does not talk of the multiracial crews that were essential to the development of the whaling industry in northeast America in the 18th and 19th centuries. I will be including information about the role that free black whalers and indigenous people had on these whaling vessels. On the section about these people, there will be mention of the free black women who helped to support the whaling industry. I will also be including a small section about Quakers and their involvement in Nantucket and with the multi-racial crews. In my section about the multiracial crews there will be a subtopic about the discrimination that was faced on the vessels. CarterAvaC (talk) 19:33, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
