Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (This article is about one of the oldest remaining multi-sport and social clubs in the UK) --86.160.127.208 (talk) 10:59, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (I've only just started making it - why not help expand it rather than speedily delete it? Wycombe House is one of the oldest remaining multi sport and social clubs in the world) --Light Defender (talk) 11:29, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (I'm comparing this article to literally thousands of existing 'tennis club' articles on wiki - I started building it yesterday and already it surpasses the vast majority of them.) --Light Defender (talk) 11:37, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (There are literally thousands of 'tennis club' articles on wikipedia for clubs which are much younger and much less significant than Wycombe House - Why would you want to delete this article? Here's one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalhimer_Tennis_Center ?? There are hundreds of these. Please help me improve it rather than just delete it.) --Light Defender (talk) 11:52, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (I've added quite a bit more to the article today, mostly including the 'other' sports played at Wycombe House - The Cricket section of the club has probably achieved what would be considered 'notable' on wiki. Would it now be useful to move the whole article? - Wycombe House Sports and Social Club - That's the umbrella organisation) --Light Defender (talk) 14:59, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

I recently replaced this article's bespoke instance of {{Infobox}} with one of {{Infobox organization}}, but have been reverted. The purposes of infoboxes are to summarise key points about an article, thereby allowing quick comparisons with other articles on similar topics; and to emit machine-readable metadata. The one-off infobox does not enable easy comparison, and does not emit metadata. We don't need to include cruft like club colours or the chairman's name. The standard infobox, clearly considered good enough for the other 10K+ articles on which it is used, should be restored.
