Tapureli (former Tahtalı) is a village in Erdemli district of Mersin Province, Turkey. At 36°39′N 34°04′E / 36.650°N 34.067°E / 36.650; 34.067 it is 32 kilometres (20 mi) north west of Erdemli and about 70 kilometres (43 mi) west of Mersin. The population of the village was 1097 [1] as of 2011. The village was founded in early 1800s by a Turkmen chieftain named Gökali. The name of the village refers to rocky landscape around.[2] There are ruins of an ancient settlement named Tapureli ruins just 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south west of the village.
