Description

The {{Afd-merge to}} and {{Afd-merge from}} templates are intended for use by the closer of a AfD debate with a consensus to merge the nominee into another article or by a different user acting on such a decision.

Usage

Upon removing the {{afd}} notice (if still present), add the {{Afd-merge to}} tag to the top of the nominated article (not its talk page). Use the following format:

{{Afd-merge to|destination article|discussion=debate name|date=debate closure date}}

For example, assume that a debate was closed on 16 August 2026. If the consensus is to merge the nominated article into an article called Topic X, and the debate is located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Topic Y (second nomination), the tag should be configured as follows:

This will generate the following notice:

Also add the {{Afd-merge from}} tag to the top of the destination article's talk page (not the article itself). Use the following format:

{{Afd-merge from|nominated article|discussion=debate name|date=debate closure date}}

For example, assume that a debate was closed on 16 August 2026. If the consensus is to merge an article called Topic Y into the article associated with the talk page, and the debate is located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Topic Y (second nomination), the tag should be configured as follows:

This will generate the following notice:

Category suppression

This template will add the categories Category:Articles proposed for merging and Category:Articles with consensus to merge following AfD discussion. These categories can be suppressed by using |nocat=true.

Marks an article as needing to be merged into another article following an Articles for Deletion debate.

Template parameters[Edit template data]

Destination article	1	The article that this particular article is supposed to be merged to. Up to 20 pages may be provided as destinations, each separated by a pipe (unnamed parameters 1–20). Example Example	Page name	required
Debate name	discussion talk discuss afd	The part of the debate's page name after "Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/". Usually the same as the article itself. However, if the debate is a second or third nomination, append "(second nomination)" or "(third nomination)" or so forth as the case may be. Example Example	String	suggested
