Trade Unions of Albania

[edit]
  • ... that legally the Trade Unions of Albania in the socialist period had "sweeping powers to regulate hours, wages, working conditions", but in practice they were, according to Anton Logoreci, "an appendage of the party machine"?

Created/expanded by Ismail (talk). Nominated by Carabinieri (talk) at 22:53, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

  • Hook: AGF on offline source, cited.
Article: Reference stye issue. New enough, long enough, AGF on offline sources.
Summary: Ref style needs to be fixed, tagged.  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:50, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Actually that's a very common way to cite sources. I think it's the Chicago style, but I'm not sure. Even if it was an incorrect way to do it, I think that's being much too strict.--Carabinieri (talk) 10:09, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Fair enough, although it's not too common on-Wiki (first I've seen it, actually). I thought such a style would fall afoul of WP:IBID or a similar guideline, but guess not.  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:20, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
  • The hook, however, is 225 characters, well above the maximum. Can someone suggest a shorter ALT? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:28, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
ALT1... that legally the Trade Unions of Albania in the socialist period had "sweeping powers to regulate hours, wages, working conditions", but in practice were "an appendage of the party machine"?
 — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:37, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
  • By losing Logoreci, ALT1 has the appearance of fact, rather than being one man's opinion as in the original. I'm not having any luck constructing an alternate to fix this... BlueMoonset (talk) 00:16, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that legally the Trade Unions of socialist Albania had "sweeping powers to regulate hours, wages, working conditions", but in practice they were according to Anton Logoreci "an appendage of the party"?
This would put it at 201 characters.--Carabinieri (talk) 00:24, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT3: ... that legally the Trade Unions of socialist Albania had "sweeping powers to regulate hours, wages, working conditions", but were, according to Anton Logoreci, "an appendage of the party"?
I cut three words from ALT2 and added two commas, and got a 186-character ALT3. Thoughts? BlueMoonset (talk) 00:42, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Am I correct to assume that ALT3 is approved?--Carabinieri (talk) 14:04, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Nope. I can't approve my own suggestion. But if Crisco 1492, the reviewer of the rest of it, comes back and approves ALT3, it'll be ready to go. I've struck out the other hooks because they're all problematic. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:49, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Looks good, assuming everyone else is okay with it — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
