This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject South Africa to keep track of articles within its scope.All articles are categorised into Category:WikiProject South Africa articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
listas – this parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for John Smith, use |listas=Smith, John so that the talk page will show up in the Smith's and not the John's of the various assessment and administrative categories. Similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for The Matrix, use |listas=Matrix, The so that the talk page will show up in the Matrix's. This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category. It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own {{para|listas}} set, since it affects the sortkey of all banners and templates.
class – see #Quality assessment below.
importance – see #Importance assessment below.

Notes and alerts

attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:South Africa articles needing attention.
needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:South Africa articles needing infoboxes.
image-needed – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
image-details – additional text to insert before the words "be added to this article" to describe the subject or type of image that is requested.

Municipalities – set |Municipalities=yes if the article is supported by the municipalities task force. This parameter populates Category:South African municipalities task force articles.
Protected areas – set |Protected areas=yes if the article is supported by the African protected areas task force. This parameter populates Category:African protected areas task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:African protected areas articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |Protected areas-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:African protected areas articles by importance.
Military history – set |Military history=yes if the article is supported by the African military history task force. This parameter populates Category:African military history task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:African military history articles by quality based on the |class= parameter.
Politics – set |Politics=yes if the article is supported by the South African politics task force. This parameter populates Category:South African politics task force articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:South African politics articles by quality based on the |class= parameter.
PSPSA – set |PSPSA=yes if the article is supported by Wikipedia Primary School project. This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia Primary School articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:PSP SA articles by quality based on the |class= parameter. This parameter uses |PSPSA-importance= to populate the relevant subcategory of Category:PSP SA articles by importance.

Redirects will automatically be classified as Redirect-class and placed in Category:Redirect-Class South Africa articles.
Disambiguation pages will automatically be classified as Disambig-class and placed in Category:Disambig-Class South Africa articles.

Classification based on namespace

In addition, if |class= is empty, undefined or unrecognized, then the class will be deduced from the namespace of the page when possible.
