Cycling icon[edit]

The icon (at least sometimes) used to represent cycling in Wikipedia, and used in the macro cyclingbio-stub, is a small representation of a bicycle helmet. The use of bicycle helmets is extremely controversial; see the main article. Could I suggest that this icon be changed to an image of a bicycle? Simon Brooke 08:16, 24th July 2006 (UTC)

I've now changed it to this image, which I think is a better representation of a cyclist. --Vclaw 10:56, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Much more suitable! --Simon Brooke 15:10, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a nice one here:

It's used ni cycling-stub. But whichever one we use it should be consistent. Just zis Guy you know? 19:20, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm responsible for originally loading both the helmet icon and the white/green bicycle icon. At the time, it didn't occur to me that helmets could be a controversial topic (thanks for the tip Simon) - I was mainly interested in making a graphical distinction between the regular cycling-stub and the biographical cycling stub. I'm not sure if that distinction or general consistency should be the priority, but if someone has a more elegant solution, I'd love to see it. In any case, I'm not a fan of the 'woman on bike' icon suggested by Vclaw, and for the time being, I'd support the green/white bike icon suggested by JzGyk. --Mindfrieze 15:20, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer consistency, a "brand" if you like, running across the various types of template. I don't see a pressing need to separate bio from other stubs, the categories should do that anyway. Just zis Guy you know? 15:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
