Someone please add translit param[edit]

@Andy M. Wang: You seem to be the lang template wizard... sorry to bombard you with these! Deus vult (aliquid)! Crusadestudent (talk) 04:33, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Crusadestudent. Thanks for looking into these lang templates. I'm not doing this one (for now) for several reasons:
  • How many of these templates need updating? Do you have a list?
  • Is there consensus at every one of these needs a backing template update?
  • This particular template is not template-protected, so you would be able to make the change yourself. Consider not editing this main template first. Make changes in this template's sandbox and test the changes in this template's testcases subpage. If this is not your forte, I can possibly take another look at this in 4-5 days. (Busy until then) Thanks, — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 04:42, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Andy M. Wang:. This is the last one I'm aware of that I'm using that needs an update. (I'm working on a few biblical figures' articles, so they lend themselves to Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Latin.) I don't think there was a consensus any any of them; the others were just broken or seemed to be broken; this one has a missing param that would be useful. This is not my forte at all—no clue how to work the back end of these. (Not even sure of the difference between a "backing template" and a "regular" template.) I have no problem waiting a few days for help. Alternatively, do you know of any other users I could reach out to who know what they're doing with this sort of thing? Thanks for your help! @Crusadestudent: Haha, "backing template" is just a term that I use. Not official. Essentially, this template needs to call a different template to support the extra param. In my experience, template-protected edit requests are very visible. There seem to be a list of folks who watch these, so no worries.
I can probably handle this change within 2 hours then. (I'll be away for the next half week or so.) — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 04:56, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Change language link to Imperial Aramaic[edit]

The name of the ISO 639-3 code arc was disambiguated from Aramaic to Official Aramaic/Imperial Aramaic on 2007-05-02. Therefore with the {{lang}} codes reflecting ISO and/or the IANA language subtag registry we should follow suite and correct the link accordingly to Imperial Aramaic. A request to do so was answered with the question to provide a consensus discussion, which I hope here’s the right place for. S.K. (talk) 13:37, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I interpret the lack of discussion despite the request for participation both at WP:Linguistics and WP:Languages as: there are no objections. I’ll wait some more days, but then will ask for the change to be made. --S.K. (talk) 19:15, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The link was changed, see Module talk:Lang/data#Template-protected edit request on 25 September 2022. Only the renaming of the corresponding category is still under discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 October 6#Category:Articles containing Aramaic-language text. S.K.
