Vandalism warning templates

[edit]

Made by Adam1213|talk 16:37, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have added auto signature to the normal templates
To the template without stuffing it up you need to:

  1. note: ` is ` with shift
  2. goto Preferences
  3. turn on raw signatures
  4. Make your nickname ````
  5. change --```` to --```
  6. edit it
  7. save it
  8. Optional chage your nickname to "" or what it used to be
  9. Optional put raw signatures to what it used to be

You can just edit the test templates as these templates are now translucent. --Adam1213 Talk WWW 11:29, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This hack requires a lot of messing about and should not be used. Rob Church Talk | FAHD 15:05, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

New version

[edit]

I have created a new version of this template as per the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Cookie cutter response to vandalism. This template is intended for a first warning when the change seems less experimental than vandalistic, and a slightly firmer warning than {{test}} is wanted. This version does not include the auto-signature hack. DES (talk) 21:20, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Vw-n wording

[edit]
copied from User talk:Who

People other than those in court make judgements, and on the other hand the origin of "deemed" is also in legal proceedings -- it is related to "doomed" and once ment a fact determined by a legal process, if i am not mistaken. I think "deemed" souinds a little pretentios in this use, but otherwise does not alter the meaning at all. DES (talk) 02:02, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's actually why I chose the word, same meaning, mostly, but not as "offensive" I think. We are not judge and jury, we are just trying to cleanup vandalism, I think the word "judged" is just too strong and gives a false impression of what we are here to do. IMHO. «»Who?¿?meta 02:06, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
To me "deemed" is at least as strong, possibly stronger, plus it sounds a bit elitist. But mostly i think that such warning msgs, should be kept in relatively simple english, sienc they may well be addressed to non-native speakers. I think usign a more common word than "deemed" would be better. if you want to soften it, use "belived", but I stand behind "judged" -- the person who reverts vandalism makes a judgement that that is what the edit is. DES (talk) 02:12, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I agree in both cases, easier and better wording, I just don't like the sound of judged. I just chose deemed to try to stay close to the meaning. Feel free to change it if you have a better word, I would just like to stay away from judged or deemed :) if possible. «»Who?¿?meta 02:12, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
How about "determined"? I have to log out now, i'll think more about this another day. DES (talk) 02:17, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, yea that sounds fair and impartial. I'll change it to that hopefully it's suitable. Thanks. «»Who?¿?meta 02:27, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Template redirection

[edit]

As far as I know, subst'ing a redirected template does not work.  ;-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 23:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Lets see:

Appears to work ok. Addhoc 23:29, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't work for {{subst:vw-n|Article name}}. The substitution results in the following rendering:
1. REDIRECT template:Uw-vandalism1
Can this be fixed? — ERcheck (talk) 01:37, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, however {{subst:vw|article}} produces:

My apologies, I should have been specific that this was related to {{vw-n}}. This can probably be fixed by removing the double redirect. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 17:52, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, sorry I didn't realise. The problem is the template is currently a fully-protected double redirect, which should point towards template:Uw-vandalism1. Addhoc 18:17, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
