Template changes[edit]

I see that this banner template was using {{WPBannerMeta}} but was then changed over to use a copy of WPBannerMeta placed into Template:WPRocketry/core and Template:WPRocketry/core2 due to unacceptably limited capabilities of "standardised" template. I was just wondering what was meant by that as the WPBannerMeta does have hook parameters which can be used to add in those exrta capabilities that WPBannerMeta does not provide by itself. -- WOSlinker (talk) 18:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm planning to revert. This is not the way to solve a perceived problem. Please let us know what it is you weren't happy about because we can probably fix it quite easily. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:13, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The issue was related to the fact that the WPBannerMeta template is unable to handle two of the importance class assessments used by this project ("Bottom" and "No" importance articles). I did request a fix, but it was not implemented because only a small number of projects used such a feature. --GW 21:36, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is a little known option called HOOK_IMPORTANCE which could be used to accomplish this. We will need to create sub template at Template:WPRocketry/importancehook, for example, and then link it in with |HOOK_IMPORTANCE = {{WPRocketry/importancehook|{{{importance|}}}}}. And obviously, a bit of testing in the sandbox first. -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:30, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added support for Bottom-importance with the dungeons and dragons project banner. I'll go and remind myself how I did it ... — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:07, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please check the sandbox version, thanks. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:28, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to work. Just a thought, but could it be added to the meta-template as an "extended scale", similar to the extended scale for quality assessment (ie. projects can select which scale to use, thereby satisfying the objections to its addition on the grounds that many projects don't use it) --GW 20:28, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've reimplemented. We have discussed adding support for custom importance masks in the past. There are a few technical difficulties with it. I think the conclusion has been that, as there are so few projects which use them, it is easier and more efficient to add it to individual banners rather than the meta. If you have any other questions or concerns I'd be happy to help. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:42, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please revert the image to the 2015 image. The current image is exhibiting US-bias. Rocketry is not a U.S.-only topic; and this WikiProject is not a U.S.-only wikiproject. The 2020 image update is not helpful, and is exclusionary, reducing the implied scope of the project to only U.S. topics.

Please change

|IMAGE_LEFT = Apollo 11 launch.jpg

back to the old one

|IMAGE_LEFT = V-2 rocket diagram (no labels).svg

Or any other rocket image that doesn't include some flag. (Please note most rockets are not space rockets, and most major rockets are military rockets, so the V-2 is more representative than a Saturn V that isn't even visible in the vapor trail, another problem with the 2020 image, the rocket is barely visible and almost covered by the flag that is much larger than the rocket and vapor trail combined.)

Falcon Heavy Demo Mission (39337245145)
Done, changed to File:Falcon Heavy Demo Mission (39337245145).jpg. It is strange to me that an image with a flag so prominently placed is used here. I didn't use the diagram because it's not inherently clear that it's a rocket; the image chosen seems to do a better job at that.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 09:31, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The project is now active. Please make the template like the following, except replace Spaceflight with Rocketry.{{WikiProject Spaceflight}} 64.121.103.144 (talk) 16:39, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. There haven't been any new discussions, at the time of writing, since the 19th April, which is nearly a week ago. I still feel this is a semi-active project. MBihun (talk) 14:24, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
