Tervis Tumbler manufactures insulated tumblers that use double-wall technology to harness the natural insulating properties of air. The double-wall insulation is made by inserting an inner liner that fits inside an outer shell, creating a layer of air between them. The two liners are then permanently fused together. The insulation reduces condensation and keeps beverages hotter or colder longer than non-insulated cups and glasses. [1]

Tervis History

The original technology was developed by two engineers -- Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis -- in Detroit, Michigan in 1946. Cotter and Davis combined the last three letters of their surnames to come up with the name Tervis. [2] John C. Winslow purchased the Tervis product rights in the 1940s. The Tervis Tumbler Company was then incorporated in 1967. All Tervis drinkware is still made in the USA at the Venice, Florida manufacturing plant.

Every Tervis tumbler has a guarantee against manufacture defects. Replacement of drinkware can be expedited via the form found on their website.[6]

Tervis tumblers are dishwasher safe (top rack only) and can go in the freezer. Tervis tumblers and mugs are microwave safe for up to 30 seconds at a time, unless you see a "Do Not Microwave" or "Microwave Only When Full" sticker located on the bottom of your cup. Some designs have metallic elements in them as part of the decorating technique; these come with a "Do Not Microwave" sticker indicating that they are not microwave-safe. Others are made with materials that can be microwaved as long as they are full of liquid up to 1 inch from the top of the cup; these come with a "Microwave Only When Full" sticker indicating this. [7] Tervis drinkware has been BPA free since 2011. [8]
