Thomas Schmidt (born 18 February 1976, in Bad Kreuznach) is a German slalom canoeist who competed from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal in the K-1 event in Sydney in 2000.

Schmidt also won two medals in the K-1 team event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold in 2002 and a bronze in 2003.

He is the overall World Cup champion in K-1 from 2001. He also won three gold medals in the K-1 team event at the European Championships.
