Tripti Dimri (born 23 February 1994[2][3]) is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films. She made her acting debut in the comedy film Poster Boys (2017) and had her first lead role in the romantic drama Laila Majnu (2018). She gained critical recognition for her performances in Anvita Dutt's period films Bulbbul (2020), Qala (2022), with the former earning her a Filmfare OTT Award. She was featured in Forbes Asia's 30 Under 30 list of 2021.[4] Dimri had a supporting role in the top-grossing action film Animal (2023).

Career

Dimri in 2018

Dimri made her acting debut with Shreyas Talpade's directorial debut, the 2017 comedy Poster Boys, starring Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and Talpade in lead roles.[5] An official remake of the Marathi film Poshter Boyz, it featured her as Talpade's love interest.[6][7] Dimri next appeared in a leading role in the 2018 romantic drama Laila Majnu, opposite Avinash Tiwary. In her review for Firstpost, Anna M. M. Vetticad noted that she "imbued her Laila with an edge that made the character's constant flirtations with danger believable".[8]

Dimri achieved her breakthrough as the protagonist in Anvita Dutt's 2020 supernatural drama Bulbbul, which paired her opposite Avinash Tiwary once again. Produced by Anushka Sharma, the film opened to positive reviews.[9] Namrata Joshi of The Hindu wrote, "From the vulnerable and the innocent to the transformation into the mysterious tease, Dimri is a stunner who speaks volumes with her eyes. And the audience can do little but stay enraptured."[10] Her performance earned her a Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress.[11]

Dimri next reunited with Dutt for their next home production Qala.[12] The film received positive reviews from critics.[13] She then appeared in a brief but pivotal role in the commercially successful Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor.[14] Receiving mixed reviews from critics, Monika Rawal Kukreja of The Hindustan Times appreciated Dimri’s appearance in the film finding that she was, "a treat to look out for".[15]

Dimri will next star in Anand Tiwari's Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam starring Vicky Kaushal.[16]

Dimri was featured by Forbes Asia in their 30 Under 30 list of 2021.[4] She ranked 8th in Rediff.com's list of Bollywood Best Actresses of 2020.[17] She ranked 20th in The Times of India's 50 Most Desirable Women List of 2020.[18]
