Tristán Bauer (born June 22, 1959) is an Argentine film maker[1][2] and screenwriter. His work has received several international awards, particularly for his films Iluminados por el fuego ("Illuminated by Fire", Goya Award), Después de la tormenta ('After the Storm") and Cortázar (Silver Condor Award).

Bauer serves, from 2007 as the director of the Public Media System of Argentina. He has been responsible of the creation of Argentina's Ministry of Education Canal Encuentro TV network and is a member of the Board of Directors of the pan-Latin American network teleSUR.
