Troubles (disambiguation)
Appearance
The Troubles was a period of political unrest and violence in Northern Ireland, from the late 1960s to the turn of the millennium.
In an Irish context the term has long been used as a signifier of other periods of civil strife and rebellion. It was used to describe the conflict in Ireland of 1919-23, and the events of 1798 were also commonly referred to afterwards as "the time of the trouble(s)". As early the as Irish Rebellion of 1641 the term "these late Troubles" was being applied to refer to events of that year.[1][2]
