The biggest of the ten forts which has survived the ravages of time is the kottam Fort in which the family of the erstwhile kingdom used to live also belongs to this area which now no more ,but a mini replica is being in use by the same family here. The daughter of the last king of this estate lives there still.

Tuni is a town(mandal) and a municipality in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Tuni is a marketing centre for more than forty surrounding villages. Sunday is (Santha)market fare day. Known for mangoes export,nearly 250 varieties of mangoes are available here and are also exported .It is also famous for the betel leaves grown in and around the place. A light house for ships in coastal village Penthakota is 11.5 km.away . The district head quarters, Kakinada is 64 km to south.

Tuni is a 18 km drive from Annavaram, a sacred place of Lord satyanarayana swamy, or approximately half way between the two cities of Rajahmundry and the port city of Visakhapatnam. It is well connected by the Indian Railway Network and is on the National Highway No.5.


Geography

Tuni is located at 17°21′N 82°33′E / 17.35°N 82.55°E / 17.35; 82.55[1]. It has an average elevation of 14 metres (45 feet).

Tuni is well connected by Rail and Road. Tuni is approximately halfway between Visakapatnam,which is 98 km north and Rajamundry,105 km south connected by Road route NH(National Highway)-5 and Rail line.
