Dama Asia is a multiple-award winning bi-lingual theatre company, known for their critically acclaimed musical theatre productions and their blending of East-West harmonies in their performances.
HISTORY
[edit]Inaugurated in 1994, Dama – literally Big Horse in Mandarin – has presented more than 40 productions over the last 27 years, with performances in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and China. Its other portfolio includes Chinese and Western operas and plays, as well as commissioned productions and show entertainment services.
The theatre company has also performed at international music festivals such as Rainforest World Music Festival, WOMAD Singapore, Silk & Bamboo Music Festival, Huayi Festival of Arts and Volvo World Music Festival. Dama Asia is active in musical theatre education and training. The projects include International Musical Study Tours to Broadway, West End and Edinburgh Festival, musical theatre training programmes,[1] acting workshops and singing workshops. Its arts education and workshop programmes are also tailored for youth and children training.[2]
The theatre company undertakes active collaboration with international theatre artists and practitioners from both the East and the West.
