Disclaimer: As a volunteer editor of music articles, I have been installing wikilinks to music files that are already on Wikipedia. My understanding is that people who have uploaded music usually do so in good faith, and that any mistakes and omissions made in that process are usually harmless or minor. I do not want to spend my volunteer time investigating whether files were properly contributed to Wikipedia in the first place, and/or getting them removed from Wikipedia and from Wikimedia Commons. I simply want to make sure that files already at Wikipedia are mentioned elsewhere at Wikipedia, in pertinent Wikipedia articles. This is accomplished using the Wikipedia:Sound/list. If I inadvertently link to a Wikipedia music file that does not belong on Wikipedia, then my action increases the odds that the file will be recognized by others as a copyright violation and removed from the English Wikipedia, from Wikimedia Commons, and thus from all of the Wikipedias that use other languages. This matter was discussed at the classical music wikiproject in 2015.Anythingyouwant (talk) 19:53, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
