UBCO Food Services

The University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) offers a variety of food and beverage locations for staff, students, and visitors. Food is available for purchase in most buildings of the campus. Although the University offers classic comfort foods, they are working towards serving more plant-based food options with sustainable to-go packaging. It is said that "vegan and vegetarian options are readily available to reduce [UBCO's] impact on [the Earth's] air, land, water and climate."^[1]

Comma is one of the more popular cafes located in the Commons building of the University. Comma offers delicious teas, coffees and lattes with options for non-dairy-milk upon request, as well as healthy baked goods and fresh soups, salads, and bowls. Sunshine Cafeteria, located in the Arts building with indoor and outdoor seating options, offers a variety of vegan and gluten free options which makes all staff and students feel that no matter their dietary needs, they have plenty of options. Sunshine's menu includes personalized burritos, poké bowls, pastas, burgers and much more. Hedwig^[2], located in the Monashee Residence, is a convenience store that provides snacks, groceries, and coffee for UBCO's busy students and is always open late. Picnic^[3], located in the University Centre is the largest of UBCO's cafeterias. It offers a wide range of delicious meals ranging from sushi to handcrafted Italian pizzas. Spoon^[4] offers soup on the bottom floor of the Arts building all year long providing healthy vegetable stews as well as creamy soups. Soup is the perfect food to warm you up, especially on some of Kelowna's cold winter days. Last but not least, Rocket^[5], located in the EME (Engineering, Management & Education) building is a cafeteria with pre-made and packaged food items that make students' lunches quick and easy. All of the food services on UBCO's campus take pride in their kind service, reliability, and variety of food and beverage options.

UBCO Campus Food and Beverage Franchises

Starbucks, one of the busiest franchises on campus is located in the Fipke building. If you plan to stop by the campus' Starbucks for a refreshing flavoured iced lemonade or a warm, comforting latte, be sure to give yourself plenty of time as the lineup tends to be very long. The campus also offers two Tim Hortons locations, one of which is an express location in the Arts building, and the other is located in the University's Library. There is also a Subway (restaurant) located in the Arts and Science building.
