Roy Dakroub; (born September 2, 1988) is a Lebanese doctor who serves as a professor in Paris France, and a 3 combat sports athlete and trainer , famously nicknamed Dakroubović in the fighting society.

Early life and education[edit]

Born in Beirut, he immigrated with his parents to Canada and came back to the Lebanese capital in 1995. His childhood was well notable by his love for football. By the time he was 8 years old, Roy Dakroub started playing professionally with several local clubs in Beirut and won many titles including the infamous Ramadan tournament held every year for youth talents. When he turned 17, Roy swiftly turned his attention to martial art.

Dakroub attended Collège Élite (Beirut) from 1995 until he graduated in June 2006. Later that year , Dakroub attended Lebanese American University, where he earned a B.A. degree in finance and an M.A. degree in economics in 2014]], he pursued his Phd in behavioral finance studies at Rennes School of Business.


Career[edit]

MMA[edit]

Roy Dakroub participated for several years in the Lebanese national league and won the Lebanese tournament a whopping 6 times. During that period, Dakroub also participated in the West Asian Mixed Martial Arts tournament and won gold for Lebanon on 2 occasions. He was also crowned champion of Lebanese universities 5 times during that era. In mid-2013, Dakroub was intrigued by the possibility of enhancing his fighting career by pursuing jiujitsu on a professional level. This led him to train and fight side by side with local jiujitsu legend Daniel Hilal, where he won many accolades for his efforts.

Jiujitsu[edit]

Dakroub left the Lebanese capital in 2015 to follow his Phd education in France. In that time, Dakroub was recruited to train and fight with Gracie Barra in Rome Italy where he deservedly earned the purple belt from Powersource MMA Carlson Gracie T academy trainer Andre Campos. He received the title of champion of France on two occasions (2017 and 2018) weight 80kg, and the Lebanese jiujitsu championship twice.


Work in Behavioral Finance and UX Research[edit]

In addition to serving as a university professor in economics, Dakroub also occupies a position in UX research Behavioral economics at Europcar in Paris, France. The scholars he considers to be the epitome in behavioral finance and economics are Gunduz Caginalp, Malcolm Baker and Simon Gächter to name a few.
