The third generation Superb, utilising the MQB platform, a modular platform for transverse engine cars of Volkswagen Group, was officially announced by Skoda in February 2015 in time for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Full-scale production was intended to start in the middle of the year.

Similar to other MQB-based vehicles such as the third generation Skoda Octavia, the wheelbase of the Superb was extended by 80 millimetres (3.1 in), offering increased interior space, most notably more legroom and boot space. For improved driving efficiency, its weight has been reduced by 75 kilograms (165.3 lb).

Dealer deliveries of the saloon are scheduled to begin in June 2015 with the estate, named Combi, following in September.[1]
