mophie is a California-based, award-winning designer and manufacturer of mobile intelligent devices and accessories. mophie is the developer of the ‘juice pack’, the first-ever "Works With iPhone" portable battery case certified by Apple Inc. and the ‘space pack’ the first-ever battery case with built-in storage for the iPhone.
History
[edit]mophie was originally founded in Vermont by Ben Kaufman, who later went on to form Quirky, Inc. mophie was purchased in 2007 by mStation Audio, LLC. who specialized in the development of speaker equipment. After the purchase, mStation, co-founded by Shawn Dougherty and Daniel Huang, moved from producing speakers to being fully concentrated on designing intelligent cases and mobile solutions. [1]
In 2008, mophie produced their first ‘juice pack’ for the original iPhone and went on to generate approximately $2.6 million in sales. [1]
In 2009, mophie expanded retail presence to Apple, Inc., AT&T and Best Buy in conjunction with the iPhone 3G, moved headquarters to Orange County, CA with original offices still operational in MI and fully transformed from mStation to mophie. [1]
In 2010, mophie introduced its first universal powerstation line of external batteries. They worked with private equity firm Beringea to lead a $4 million dollar round of funding. Current Senior VP at mophie, Jeff Bocan, was a former venture partner at Beringea during the round of funding. [1]
In 2011, mophie opened their first facility in China.
In 2013, the company has over 200 employees worldwide and exceeded $240 million in sales. Moved headquarters from Santa Ana, CA to Tustin, CA and moved its distribution center from Paw Paw, MI to Kalamazoo, MI.
In 2014, mophie announces the “space pack” at CES, the world’s first iPhone battery case will built-in storage.

Current products
[edit]mophie's most notable product line is the juice pack case series, which encompasses charging solutions for the iPhone (all generations), Samsung Galaxy S3/4 and HTC One. The mophie space pack is a case that incorporates both an extended battery and additional storage for the iPhone 5/5s. It was announced at CES and is slated to ship March, 2014. mophie also produces the powerstation line of universal external batteries for smartphones, tablets and other USB-enabled devices.
