Franzi 1864 new article content ...
Franzi 1864 is a luxury Italian luggage and leather goods company, based in Milan.
History
In 1840, Rocco Franzi moved to Milan and opened a small company, specialising in the manufacture of bags and suitcases, close to the Cathedral. Twenty four years later the Valigeria Franzi was founded, by his son Felice Franzi, near the Via Manzoni and it was here that Felice developed the innovative Franzi suitcase, which very quickly became a great success.
On the back of that success, the company opened a new manufacturing plant and in addition to the existing trunks and suitcases, a wide variety of other leather goods were added to the Franzi repertoire. Felice continued to invest in tools and machinery and brought in leather goods experts from France and Austria who helped train the Franzi craftsmen to a high standard.
One of these highly skilled craftsmen was Guccio Gucci who, of course, later went on to open his own, highly successful, leather goods company.
