Keng-Yuen Tseng (born 1965) is a well-known violinist and teacher. As a soloist, he has recorded several CDs[1] and currently teaches at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.[2]
Biography[edit]
He was born in Taiwan and began studying the violin at the age of five. At seven, he made his performing debut and was awarded a full scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music in 1980, where he studied with Erick Friedman and Glenn Dicterow. In 1990, he received the award for best interpretation of a new composition at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, and three years later he won the Silver Medal at the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition in Belgium[3]. His prizes include the North Carolina Symphony Artist Competition, New Jersey Symphony Artist Competition, and the Washington International String Competition.
He is the Chair in Strings of the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Artistic Director for the Shuan Yin International Music Festival in Taiwan, and the Yong Siew Toh Music Conservatory Chair in Strings at Peabody.
